On Saturday, January 28th, the James Island Vikings will host the 12th Annual Bo’s Roast & Chili Cook Off in Edisto Hall at James Island County Park. The event will run from noon until 5 pm.

The event includes an Oyster Roast, Chili Cook-Off, live music (from Mark Jackson Trio, Old Dogs New Tricks, and The Shakin Martinis), beer, a Kids Corner (jump castle, face painters, and more), a silent auction, and more. All proceeds will be donated to two local charitable organizations that focus on advocacy and the support of local cancer patients and their caretakers, Islands Against Cancer, Inc. and Sara’s Cure, LLC.

Tickets, including a VIP option, can be purchased here. Early Bird ticket pricing ends on January 2nd, 2023.

The James Island Vikings were originally formed as a Dragon Boat team and helped raise money for cancer through Charleston’s Dragon Boat Festival.  In 2010, the Vikings lost close friend Nancy Brown after a yearlong battle with breast cancer. The following year, Nancy’s partner, Bo, held the first Bo Roast and Chili Cook-off at James Island County Park. Afterwards, the Vikings made a joint decision to continue donating to cancer programs.
