Carolina Youth Development Center Adds Board Members & Appoints 2023-2024 Executive Committee

Ashley is an experienced fundraiser and volunteered as a tutor at CYDC before taking her current role at Blackbaud.

“CYDC’s Board of Directors are some of the most dedicated community leaders from throughout the Lowcountry.  In addition to being accomplished in their fields, each of our board members supports CYDC by using their resources and expertise to improve the lives of children and families in our community,” said CYDC CEO Beverly Hardin. “We are excited to work with them as we move CYDC into another year of service.”

CYDC also elected Peter Barton of Elliott Davis to serve as the organization’s new chair upon the completion of a two-year term by Chair Rita Daily, who is retired from The Boeing Company.

“We are excited to add these two stalwarts of our community to our growing CYDC board,” said CYDC CEO Beverly Hardin. “Both bring invaluable experience and expertise to our organization, and we look forward to their involvement with our organization and guidance as we continue to work to improve the well-being of children and families in our community.”

CYDC’s bold mission is to empower and equip our community’s most vulnerable children by providing a safe environment, educational support, and career readiness in collaboration with families and community partners. The organization provides services to more than 800 children and families and housing for up to 48 residents across two campuses in Charleston and Berkeley counties.

Ashley Davis has worked at Blackbaud for nine years and is the director of Demand Generation. She graduated from the College of Charleston in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in Media Communications. She is a volunteer and has raised funds for various community organizations throughout the Lowcountry, focusing on children, economic empowerment, education, poverty alleviation, and social services.

Peter Barton is a director in the Charleston, SC office of Elliot Davis, where he leads the firm’s business advisory practice. Peter works alongside business owners and professional management teams to make better decisions and accomplish goals. Peter provides financial leadership to clients in the following areas: mergers and acquisitions, financial consulting, business transition planning, and financial effectiveness.
