Rip City Announces New Shows – Including One on a Boat!

Since reemerging from a 3 year hiatus, Rip City CHS has been playing to sold out crowds in art galleries, photo studios, and breweries all over town with what’s been dubbed the “SNL of the South.” Each show is completely different and features a variety of off the wall comedy, original animated shorts, live music, pole dancing, audience interactions, giveaways, and more.

Rip City says they are “where weird Charleston thrives,” and although comedy is the main through line, a variety of different acts like music, dancing, and film fill out a line up of a very unique collection of local artists.

“We never know what’s going to happen,” said Maari Suorsa, the show’s co-founder. “Everyone brings an idea to start and by showtime it’s anybody’s guess how things are going to go. Some bits go really well and others go…even better!”

On February 18th, Rip City returns to Silver Hill Studios, a brand new photo studio run by Sully Sullivan and Adam Boozer, along with Studio Manager Zac Croker (of Veja Du). The team at Silver Hill runs a production company called Lawton Miles, which creates content for national brands as well as providing support for local creatives.

On March 25th, Rip City will return to Lo-fi Brewing. They just finished a 4-week residency with Bob Lanzetti of Snarky Puppy and have been working with new voices from the local scene like Charleston Underground, a monthly hip-hop showcase.

Then in April, the show takes to the high seas with Rip City ON A BOAT. On April 30th, Rip City, in partnership with Charleston Harbor Tours, will provide a comedy experience on board the Charleston Princess in the middle of the harbor.

More show announcements will be made soon. For more information, visit numberheadcomedy.com.
