Spoleto Announces the Addition of Leyla McCalla to Opening Night Lineup
Spoleto Festival USA today announced that New Orleans-based singer and multi-instrumentalist Leyla McCalla will join the 2023 season of Spoleto Festival USA.Formerly a cellist with the Grammy-winning string band Carolina Chocolate Drops and part of the ensemble Our Native Daughters, the “liquid-voiced” McCalla topped NPR’s “Best Roots Music of 2022” with her latest solo project, Breaking the Thermometer.
This concert replaces the performance of Ebony Bones, which, due to extenuating circumstances, has been canceled.
Festivalgoers who have purchased Ebony Bones tickets will automatically be transferred to Leyla McCalla’s concert, no action required. If plans are changing, ticket holders may exchange tickets at no cost, request a refund, or convert the purchase to a tax-deductible donation.
