The Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina awarded 92 grants totaling $1.4 million to nonprofit organizations throughout the Palmetto State. Each organization is working to reduce poverty in South Carolina.

Since 1996, the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina has awarded over 3,300 grants to South Carolina nonprofits totaling over $83 million.

“The Sisters of Charity Foundation is proud to continue our ongoing support of organizations that are committed to reducing poverty across South Carolina,” said Donna Waites, President of Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina. “Change occurs when collaboration meets action in the community. We are honored to partner with 92 different organizations and are confident that these grants will enable these organizations to continue their unique missions.”

The latest round of grants was awarded to nonprofits that are working to reduce poverty in South Carolina in one of three ways:

  • Meeting the immediate needs of people experiencing poverty

  • Breaking the cycle of poverty

  • Working to change the systems that are drivers of poverty

Macon Lovelace, the Chairman of the Board of Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina, added, “we’re incredibly excited to provide these grants to the impactful organizations who are actively working with communities to create lasting change.”

This year’s grant recipients serve all 46 of South Carolina counties, and many of these nonprofits provide services across the state. See the full list of this cycle’s grant recipients here.
