City of Charleston to Host ‘Operation Neighborhood’ in Gadsden Green
Mayor John Tecklenburg, the Charleston Housing Authority, and city leaders invite the community to take part in the next Operation Neighborhood cleanup event, which will take place in the Gadsden Green neighborhood from 8:30am to 10:30 am on Saturday, May 20th.

Each quarter, a city neighborhood is chosen, based on need and request, to serve as the venue for an Operation Neighborhood cleanup. Past cleanups were coordinated with Sherwood Forest-Ardmore Neighborhood Association; the Eastside Community Development Corporation; the Forest Neighborhood Coalition and Palmilla Apartments and the Ferguson Village Neighborhood Association.
Operation Neighborhood efforts may include (but are not limited to):
- Litter cleanup
- Drain cleaning
- Graffiti removal
- Lamp post maintenance
- Tree planting
- Street and sidewalk repair
- Street sweeping
- Dissemination of information regarding city services
- Lighting improvements
- Outreach regarding code enforcement
- Right-of-way landscape maintenance
- Engagement with public safety officers
