Press Release

Print Your Cause, the Mount Pleasant-based software and merchandise decoration and fulfillment company, was recently named 2023’s #1 fastest growing business in South Carolina (and #17 in the entire Southeast Region) by Inc.com. With a growth rate of 1,583% over the last two years, Print Your Cause has built a solution that fulfills merchandise orders, decreases production waste, and provides new ways of fundraising and gift giving for businesses and nonprofits across the country.

Humble Beginnings

In 2018, Print Your Cause cofounder Jayson Tompkins noticed a gap in the nonprofit industry: nonprofits wanted to sell custom-printed merchandise, but couldn’t afford a big up-front investment and had no space to store inventory. He knew there had to be a better way.

Tompkins recruited software engineering colleagues Jon Bell and Adam Hickey to begin writing the platform for an e-commerce and order management system. The three built the platform and launched a garment printing and production company, creating Print Your Cause. In their first year, they managed $30,000 in business from the Tompkins’ dining room while Tompkins and his three-year-old daughter delivered orders to local clients to save on shipping costs.

Exponential Growth

Since then, Print Your Cause has grown with offices and warehouses in South Carolina, North Carolina, Ohio, Kentucky, Colorado, Pennsylvania, and the United Kingdom. The pandemic expedited their growth with businesses encouraged to streamline their merchandizing processes, seeking safe and socially distant ways to promote their causes with custom swag. The Print Your Cause online store software shifted the bulk ordering paradigm, allowing organizations to send their supporters a link to order specific garments and other merchandise, with Print Your Cause handling the money collection, printing, and shipping.

In 2022, Print Your Cause reported revenues of over $6 million. They count among their clients national and international organizations like Amazon, Costco, Blackbaud—which once employed all three cofounders and became an early adopter and vocal supporter—Habitat for Humanity, Children’s Miracle Network, and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The inclusion of their company in Inc.com’s much-lauded list is an honor their team won’t soon forget. “We’ve built our team and foundation,” said Tompkins. “Now it’s time to build our skyscraper. Our unique on demand fulfillment and store building platform helps organizations and individuals sell branded merchandise, cuts waste by not producing unwanted inventory, and focuses on fundraising and gift giving. Our mission is to support you so you can focus on your mission.”
