The Mills House Announces Opening of New Rooftop Pool and More

Published

on

The Mills House today shared information about a Spoleto Festival event and the upcoming launch of their rooftop pool.

The hotel’s signature restaurant, Iron Rose, is participating in the Spoleto Festival’s annual “Spoleto Sips” program. During the festival, guests at Iron Rose will be able to enjoy the Garden Gimlet, a gin-based cocktail with a mocktail option that swaps in club soda for the gin. The drink pays homage to Spoleto performance An Iliad as a riff on a longtime favorite: the Kykeona. The Kykeona was one of the first ancient Greek “cocktails,” consisting of water, barley, and herbs. Iron Rose’s modern take on this Greek classic features barley-based gin (Castle & Key Roots of Ruin), muddled cucumbers, serrano simple syrup, lime juice, and a mint garnish (one of the most utilized herbs in ancient Greece).

Following its multi-million-dollar renovation announced in December 2022, The Mills House will officially complete the renovation project with the launch of its new second floor rooftop pool, pool terrace, and outdoor Terrace Bar (right) this June. The Terrace Bar is open Thursday through Sunday from 11 am to 8 pm and locals are welcome. Guests will enjoy a menu of bites like vegetable crudité, butterbean hummus, and watermelon salad, alongside a selection of beer, wine, canned cocktails, a “Boozy Capri-Sun of the Day,” and frozen drinks like a Planter’s Punch, Paloma, and Dreamscicle. The menu is available to view here.

Local Charleston residents can also enjoy the new rooftop pool at The Mills House by reserving one of the private poolside cabanas. With a cabana reservation, guests receive the following:

  • Shaded poolside cabana with soft seating for up to 6 people from 10 am to 6 pm
  • Access to outdoor, rooftop pool
  • Poolside food and drinks available for purchase
  • Towel Service
  • Complimentary Fruit Plate
  • Complimentary Bottled Water
  • Complimentary Wi-Fi
  • Bask sunscreen (30 and 50 SPF) available for purchase

Pricing for non-hotel guests is $275 during the week and $300 on the weekends. Reservations can be made via ResortPass.

In addition, during the month of August, The Mills House will celebrate its 170th anniversary with a week of free giveaways; specials at Iron Rose paying homage to the hotel’s original dining menu in the 1800s (think items like turtle soup); history talks and lectures with the Gibbes Museum; and more. Those details will be shared later this year.
