Get Ready for Hurricane Season with a Digital Preparedness Kit
Charleston County residents are encouraged to get ready for hurricane season by setting up a “digital preparedness kit” to help stormproof your electronic devices and digital information.
“Many people don’t think about protecting smartphones, tablets, computers or other electronics during hurricane season, but technology is a critical response and recovery tool for staying connected to life-saving information before, during, and after a storm,” said Charleston County Emergency Management Director Joe Coates. “When a disaster happens, we want residents to have several ways to receive warnings, alerts, and updates from verified government or local media sources. Identifying those sources ahead of an emergency will keep this community informed, safe, and protected from misinformation.”
