Soho House Coming to Downtown Charleston

London-based Soho House today announced it will open one of its private membership clubs on East Bay Street in 2024. In addition to their Holy City announcement, Soho House also said it will be expanding to Mexico City and Portland this year.

“We have a lot of unique projects underway that are ‘firsts’ for Soho House, with Mexico City being our inaugural location in Latin America, and Portland marking our entry into the Pacific Northwest,” said Jarrett Stuhl, Chief Operating Officer – Americas, Soho House. “As we look to 2024 and beyond, we will only continue to expand in the Americas into cities and territories where we haven’t yet had a physical presence – including Charleston.” 

Soho House is set to open on East Bay Street in the former Wagener Building, a Victorian-era, three-story venue that was previously home to Lagunitas Brewing and Southend Brewery & Smokehouse. The building will be reimagined and will eventually feature a ground-floor public restaurant and two floors of members-only space, including a rooftop bar and a dining area with views of the Holy City.

The Soho House Design Team says they will draw inspiration from “Charleston’s rich history, southern charm, and creative spirit to develop a vibrant coastal locale to eat, drink and unwind, while honoring the building’s historic details.”

Membership applications are now open for Portland and Mexico City, with Charleston residents encouraged to apply to Soho House’s “Cities Without Houses program. ”
