Charleston County and South Carolina Democratic Party Release Statements on Rep. Mace’s Upcoming Press Conference

Rep. Nancy Mace will today take part in a press conference announcing a $25 million transit allocation to CARTA stemming from President Joe Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which she voted against. Both the South Carolina and Charleston County Democratic Parties released statements in response to this press conference. You can see both below.

Charleston County Democratic Party:

“It is important for every Lowcountry voter to know that not only did Rep. Mace vote against this critical infrastructure bill, she wrote an opinion column for Fox News in April 2021 calling it a ‘fiasco,’ ‘absurd,’ and this specific program (funding for electric mass transit vehicles) an example of ‘socialism.’”

‘Democrats don’t tell billionaires that we deserve credit for their tax cuts from President Trump,’ said Charleston County Democratic Party Chairman, Sam Skardon. ‘We’d appreciate it if Republicans, like Rep. Mace, would be honest with voters about which laws they have, and haven’t, supported.’”

South Carolina Democratic Party:

“Thanks to the Biden-Harris administration, federal funds are making their way to South Carolina for high-speed internetrebuilding our roads and bridges, and investing in our rural infrastructure. As a reminder, this critical funding comes no thanks to any of the House Republicans in South Carolina – including Rep. Nancy Mace who is all too eager to take credit for the federal dollars going to the Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA).

Mace repeatedly attacked the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, only to turn around and hold a press conference celebrating the money coming from it.

South Carolina Democratic Party spokesperson Alyssa Bradley issued the following statement in response:

‘If Nancy Mace wants to tout these critical funds coming to her district, she should have voted for them. House Democrats like Congressman Jim Clyburn delivered these historic investments to South Carolinians – if it were up to Mace and a majority of her Republican colleagues, investments in CARTA wouldn’t exist.'”
