Mac Deford Calls Nancy Mace Out for “Taking Credit for Critical Transit Funding She Fought Against”
Mac Deford (above), Democratic candidate for U.S. Congress (SC-01), today criticized the actions of Rep. Nancy Mace, who today tried to take credit with the achievement of procuring $25 million in CARTA funding, sourced from President Biden’s bipartisan Infrastructure bill passed by Congress in 2021. Mace opposed the legislation and often publicly criticized the bill.
“Nancy Mace’s attempt to claim credit for legislation she vehemently disagreed with is not only wrong but embarrassing,” Deford said. “She not only voted against the bill, but she also went as far as labeling it ‘absurd.’ The city of Charleston and its surrounding areas desperately require this funding for critical enhancements to mass transit, alleviation of traffic congestion, and the generation of valuable jobs. Mace, however, made every attempt to stop this from happening. She demonstrates once again that her attitude is too cavalier and her capabilities too limited to represent the Lowcountry in Congress. The Lowcountry deserves better than her constant, shameless side-show antics.”
