Former State Senator Marlon Kimpson Endorses Deon Tedder For Senate District 42
Former State Senator Marlon Kimpson today announced his endorsement of State Representative Deon Tedder (above) for Senate District 42.
“The future of Senate District 42 and the many people I have served over the past ten years will always be important to me,” Kimpson said. “I think it is important for us to have a leader who will fight for us everyday in the State Senate. Today, I am proud to say that I fully support and endorse Representative Deon Tedder as the next Senator for District 42.”
The Senate District 42 Seat became vacant when Kimpson resigned in June after 10 years of service in the State Senate.
Tedder was elected to the State House in 2020, following the retirement of longtime Representative David Mack (D).
“I’m honored to receive Senator Kimpson’s endorsement and support,” Tedder said. “I am committed to working tirelessly to make Senate District 42 even better. That is my promise to the People.”
Like Kimpson, Tedder is a local attorney and a graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law.
“Deon Tedder fully understands the Law and knows what must be done to protect everyone in Senate District 42 and this entire state,” Kimpson said.
Tedder announced his intentions to run for the soon-to-be-vacated seat on March 12, 2023.
The Democratic Primary for the Senate District 42 Special Election will be held on September 5th.
