LendingTree says their research has determined that South Carolina ranks 2nd among states where residents are most interested in purchasing a boat.
The team at LendingTree analyzed loan inquiries on their platform to better understand Americans’ interest in recreational vehicles, specifically boats and RVs. They were able to uncover when interest in recreational vehicles peaks and which states have the most residents interested in boats and RVs.
Here’s a look at what they found:
7 of the top 10 states with residents who are most interested in buying a boat are in the South
South Carolina residents are the 2nd-most interested in purchasing boats. 3.5% of auto financing inquiries in South Carolina between May 2021 and May 2023 were for potential boat purchases — the national average is 1.9%.
- Florida residents were the most interested in purchasing boats. 3.8% of auto financing inquiries in Florida between May 2021 and May 2023 were for potential boat purchases.
Interest in boats peaked in 2021
Overall, boat loan inquiries dropped 27.0% between May 2021 and May 2022 but jumped 35.6% between May 2022 and May 2023. There was just a 1.0% dip between May 2021 and May 2023.
