Clay Middleton Officially Files to Run for Mayor of Charleston

Clay Middleton, a Charleston native, graduate of Burke High School and The Citadel, and Lieutenant Colonel in the SC Army National Guard, has officially filed to be on the November ballot for Mayor of Charleston.

The candidate released the following statement:

“This is an exciting day for my family and I, as well as what the future of Charleston can be. As a child from Bayside Manor, this wasn’t supposed to be my trajectory. I seek this mantle of leadership because City Hall is lacking a shared vision, and bold servant leadership that is required for a growing city like ours. I am capable and qualified to serve all of Charleston. Now that I’ve filed, we will continue to put forth ideas and not talking points, solve problems and create equitable opportunities, put people over profits and self interest, and create a city that works for everyone. My experience at every level of government, the military, community, and the private sector can amount to something very meaningful and I can lead and manage our city into a future that is sustainable and prosperous for everyone.

If you are pleased and satisfied with the level of service you are getting from the incumbent, I’m not your person. However, if you want more and expect more, I have something tangible to offer. Join me in being a new brick in an old foundation and we can move forward together.”
