Grand Bohemian Gallery to Host Artist in Residence Events by New York-Based Painter Elaine Schloss
Grand Bohemian Gallery will host “The Next Original” Artist in Residence Events by New York-Based Painter Elaine Schloss in September.
In November 2022, The Kessler Collection issued an open call to emerging artists across the United States. Out of more than 1,800 artists’ entries, nine finalists were handpicked by Richard C. Kessler to come to Savannah, Georgia to display their work. Each of the finalists inspired Mr. Kessler in their own unique way. During the Awards Dinner, Mr. Kessler named all nine finalists The Next Original Artists of 2022. The chosen winners’ artwork was hung in Times Square on New Year’s Eve, and they received a one-year partnership with the Grand Bohemian Gallery to exhibit their art in The Kessler Collection’s luxury hotel properties and art galleries across the southeastern United States.
Elaine Schloss, a fine art painter living and working in Valley Cottage, New York was one of these Next Original winners. Her work has been on display in the Grand Bohemian Gallery in Charleston since February 2023.
Schloss has had a life-long passion for art, singing, and musical theater spanning eight decades. Her love for drama explains the vibrant and bold color and line throughout her work. Ranging from realistic to semi-abstract, her art explores faces, figures, emotion, form, and color rendered in vibrant acrylics.
As part of The Next Original Artist in Residence series with the Kessler Collection, winning artists will be traveling to the Grand Bohemian Gallery Charleston for fall 2023. Elaine Schloss will be the second in this series. Schloss will be live painting during an artist reception on back-to-back dates in September 2023.
