Marianne Williamson to Speak at College of Charleston’s Bully Pulpit Series
The Bully Pulpit Series at the College of Charleston will host a conversation with Democratic presidential candidate Marianne Williamson. She will meet with faculty, staff, students, and the community as part of the College of Charleston’s “Bully Pulpit Series” on August 29th, 2023.
The event will take place in Stern Student Center, Room 205 located at 71 George Street from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm. This event is free to attend and open to the public.
Williamson is the author of 14 books, seven of which were on the New York Times bestseller list. She is the founder of the California-based nonprofit Project Angel Food, a meals-on-wheels to support the seriously ill who are homebound. Her other nonprofit work includes: co-founding The Peace Alliance, a group that seeks the formation of a U.S. Department of Peace; serving on the board of Results Educational Fund (RESULTS), a charity focused on finding long-term solutions to poverty; and developing four Sister Giant Conferences, which encourage women to run for office. In 2014 she ran as an independent for California’s 33rd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. She finished fourth out of 18 candidates in the primary.
The mission of the Bully Pulpit Series is “to encourage and facilitate political participation throughout the College of Charleston community by providing a platform for dialogue with our nation’s leaders. At its core, the series engages today’s youth by meeting students where they are – in the classroom, outside their residence hall and through their social networks – to create curious, informed and engaged individuals who are ready and able to engender political and social change.”
