Democratic Candidate for U.S. Congress Mac Deford Releases Campaign Video
Mac Deford, a Democratic candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives for South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District, today released a new campaign video, which you can see below. Deford’s campaign says the video features the candidate “shining a spotlight on the unique concerns and character of the 1st Congressional District and how he will address the day-to-day challenges where Nancy Mace has fallen short.”
Here’s what Deford had to say:
“When you travel the Lowcountry, you realize that a lot of people are suffering from failed leadership in Washington, D.C. Our rural communities and environment are being neglected, young people are witnessing first-hand the pain of gun violence, women are being left without a voice in the collective fight for abortion access, and our public education system is one of the worst in the nation. We capture those stories, hearing directly from residents of the district.
In Congress, I’ll stand up for those who are being overlooked by Nancy Mace. I tell the story of my maternal grandmother, who lost her young life to a backroom abortion in pre-Roe v. Wade America in the early 1960s, an experience that has had a lasting impact on my family. The challenges of our time require action, and while Nancy Mace serves in Congress, the Lowcountry lacks a strong advocate for our rights, for sensible gun laws that prioritize human life, and for the environmental conservation that keeps the Lowcountry beautiful. I’ve listened to the people from across the Lowcountry, and we’ve captured their concerns in this video. The time for change is now.” –
