Ralph H. Johnson VA to Close Some Services in Preparation for Hurricane Idalia

In preparation for Hurricane Idalia, the Ralph H. Johnson VA Health Care System will close the following clinics on Wednesday, August 30th:

– Savannah, GA VA Clinic
– Hinesville, GA VA Clinic
– Beaufort, SC VA Clinic
– Goose Creek, SC VA Clinic (Goose Creek will close at 2:00 pm tomorrow and will re-open starting at 1:00 pm, Thursday, August 31st. Patients will be contacted to be offered a virtual appointment, offered to relocate their appointment to the North Charleston Clinic, or offered future in person appointment as appropriate.

Also, the North Charleston VA Clinic, downtown Charleston VA Medical Center and Myrtle Beach VA Clinic will close nonclinical services at 3:00 pm while clinical services operate on regular schedule. The VA Medical Center’s inpatient care units and Emergency Department will remain open and operational.

Clinical staff members are currently contacting patients with appointments during the closures to reschedule their appointments.

All VA employees should be in contact with their supervisor, review facility and service line Severe Weather Emergency Preparedness plans and make plans to ensure the safety of their families.

Employees and Veteran patients can stay up-to-date with the most recent updates and potential closures for Thursday by visiting the Charleston VAMC website at www.charleston.va.gov or following the health care system on Facebook, Twitter (X) or Instagram.
