Latin American Festival Set for October 8th at Wannamaker County Park

Published

on

On Sunday, October 8th, the Charleston community can celebrate the city’s Latin and Caribbean cultures at the Latin American Festival at Wannamaker County Park. The event will run from 12 pm to 5 pm.

Charleston County Parks invites you to immerse yourself in the authentic music, dance, and food found throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. The annual event brings people together to celebrate Charleston’s Latin cultures through merengue, reggaeton, bachata, and salsa music; folkloric artwork and crafts; and authentic foods – from empanadas to arroz con pollo.

This year’s live music lineup will feature Los del Pueblo, Wando Lopez, and headliner Kinito Méndez. Los del Pueblo will start off the day with regional Mexican music. Cuban singer and composer Wanda Lopez will bring her energetic show to the stage at 2 pm and Dominican merengue star Kinito Méndez, founder of the popular band “La Cocoband” and solo artist who has sold over 1.5 million copies of his debut album, will perform at 3:30 pm. Guests will also enjoy dance performances, and the popular salsa dance contest hosted by DJ Luigi Bravo.

This year’s performance schedule is:

12 – 12:30 pm: DJ Luigi

12:30– 1:30 pm: Los del Pueblo

1:30 – 1:50 pm: Dance performances

2 – 3 pm: Wanda Lopez

3 – 3:30 pm: DJ Luigi (Salsa contest)

3:30 – 5 pm: Kinito Méndez

Children’s games and an educational area will also be presented by the Charleston County Public Library. Food, beverages, and souvenirs will be available for purchase on site.

Admission to the Latin American Festival is $10 at the gate. Students receive a discounted rate of $5 with a valid ID. Gold Pass holders and kids ages 12 and under are free.

Accessible parking and accessible restrooms will be available at this event. An accessibility tent with sensory bags for checkout will be available, as well as a quiet area. For additional information on the Latin American Festival, visit CharlestonCountyParks.com or call 843-795-4386.
