Deon Tedder Issues Statement on Voter Turnout

Published

on

Deon Tedder, a candidate for State Senate District 42, called on more voters to participate in the runoff election on September 19th.

“In the primary election, we saw a voter turnout of just 7.55%,” said Tedder. “That means that only a small fraction of registered voters cast a ballot. This is unacceptable. Our democracy only works when people participate. When we don’t vote, we are essentially giving up our voice in government.”

Tedder believes that Charleston and Dorchester Counties are ready for a new generation of leadership.

“I am running because I believe that everyone deserves a fair shot at success,” said Tedder. “I want to create a more just and equitable society, where everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential.”

Early voting begins on September 13th and ends on September 15th. You can vote early in person at the Charleston County Board of Elections and Administration located at 4340 Corporate Road, North Charleston. For Voters in Dorchester County, you can vote early in person at the Trident Technical College Dorchester Campus Located at 10055 Dorchester Rd, Summerville.

On Election Day, you can vote at your assigned polling place, regardless of whether or not you voted in the Primary election last Tuesday. You can find your polling place by visiting the South Carolina Election Commission website.

“I urge you to make your voice heard in the runoff election,” said Tedder. “Vote for Deon Tedder for State Senate District 42. Together, we can create a better future for Charleston and Dorchester Counties.”
