Charleston Hope to Host Fundraising Event This Month
Press Release
Charleston Hope’s mission is to increase access to mental and behavioral health programs in Title 1 schools to enhance student well-being. We are making significant strides in the high-poverty schools here in Charleston, creating a supportive environment where every child can thrive. Charleston Hope has provided 300+ hours of counseling and therapy at no cost to students in 2 elementary schools through our THRIVE program. Through our Step-In Program, we have provided 240 hours of after-school programming for 3rd-5th grade girls at Mitchell Elementary. Our annual Match Hope Fundraiser is coming up, September 14 – September 23, where we are aiming to raise $100,000 in just 10 days to enable access to vital mental and behavioral health programs in Title 1 schools. Funding will go directly towards our programs to expand mental health support for students and professional development for teachers.
Charleston Hope currently runs two mental health programs in Title 1 schools. Our Step-In Program is an after-school girls empowerment program that focuses on developing the whole girl. We help them discover their strengths, learn their value, and build their support system to navigate challenges in life. 81% of girls in our Step-In program said that Step-In taught them how to talk to adults about what they need. Our Thrive Program is a school-based counseling and therapy program offered to support students’ mental, emotional, and social well-being. 87% of students in our THRIVE Program said they feel more equipped to handle hard situations after THRIVE.
One mother shared her experience with our Step-In Program, saying, “My daughter has blossomed into a butterfly since joining the program at the beginning of the year. She used to be shy and afraid of making new friends. This program has allowed her to step into a beautiful light that I have never seen before. I am honored that the program was available to us. Charleston Hope truly understands the importance of nurturing young minds.”
Join us for our Cocktails & Conversations Event on September 21st, 2023, where we will showcase our programs in touching ways. This event aims to build connections between our donors, supporters, and the impactful work we do. Through inspiration and encouragement, we hope to create a sense of unity and motivation. With your generous support, we can directly expand mental health resources for students and provide professional development opportunities for teachers in Title 1 Schools.
By participating in our Match Hope Fundraiser and raising funds, we can continue to make a difference in the lives of these students. Together, let’s join the movement to increase access to mental health in schools and empower the minds of our future generation.
