City of Charleston Names Five Finalists for CPD Chief

The City of Charleston today announced the final five candidates for the city’s Chief of Police. Each will meet with Mayor John Tecklenburg and members of City Council during a special meeting beginning at 8:30 am on Monday, September 18th, 2023, in Salon 3 at the Gaillard Center.

After an informal breakfast session with the finalists, City Council will enter executive session at approximately 9:30 am to meet with each of the candidates individually.

The finalists are:

• Robert Bage, Chief of Police, Fort Walton, FL
• Shunta Boston, Assistant Chief of Police, Sun Prairie, WI
• Jason Bruder, Captain, Charleston, SC
• Chito Walker, Interim Chief of Police, Charleston, SC
• Jack Weiss, Deputy Chief of Police, Charleston, SC
