Press Release

As groundbreaking preparations unfold on highly anticipated amenities, Carnes Crossroads, a thoughtfully planned residential development laying roots for the future of healthy, sustainable communities here in the Lowcountry, is releasing an exciting first-look video (see below) giving a glimpse into the future of the Agrihood.

Agrihood communities prioritize sustainable agriculture practices and recreation– enabling authentic connectivity among neighbors and surrounding nature. Carnes Crossroads, developed by Freehold communities, is one of a small number of these unique neighborhoods nationwide. Freehold Communities is an expert developer of other thriving Agrihoods from coast to coast, such as Miralon in Palm Springs, California, and Arden in Palm Beach, Florida.

The first-look video highlights the future amenities that will elevate the experience of residents at Carnes Crossroads. The community features more than 9 miles of winding trails, onsite schools, and monthly farmers markets with local vendors. Soon residents will see the cornerstone of the Agrihood come to life– a 10-plus-acre farm with organically grown produce ready for families to enjoy.

In addition to the future farm, other amenities will contribute to the fun, healthy, and social environment:

  • At The Barn, residents will pick up their monthly farm share and choose from a variety of curated local goods.
  • The Lake House, an expansive amenity center at the heart of the community, will serve as a gathering place and event venue.
  • Residents will also enjoy a stunning resort-style pool positioned on the edge of Lake Hewitt with a unique three-story water slide tower.
  • For those engaging in a more active lifestyle, Carnes Crossroads will be the perfect fit with a new state-of-the-art wellness center, sports courts, and playground for the kids.

“This is an exciting step forward for our community,” said Gerrit Albert, Division President of South Carolina and Georgia. “We are proud to lead the way in sustainable, residential living in South Carolina.  The central component of the barn within our Amenity Center encourages our vision for a vibrant, healthy, and connected lifestyle for our residents.  The addition of these community spaces will foster a sense of togetherness and engagement that is central to our Agrihood mission.”

Groundbreaking on amenities is anticipated for this fall. Once complete, residents will enjoy a monthly farm share with access to fresh produce, herbs, and flowers, along with opportunities for education, connection, and fellowship with their neighbors.

A layout of the neighborhood and amenities can be found on the Carnes Crossroads website here.
