Charleston County Board of Voter Registration and Elections Preps for National Voter Registration Day 2023
Press Release
The Charleston County Board of Voter Registration and Elections (BVRE) is preparing to celebrate National Voter Registration Day (NVRD) in 2023! The annual day of recognition, set for September 19th, helps encourage eligible citizens to register to vote and to ensure their registration information is up to date. With several municipal elections across Charleston County scheduled for this fall, we are encouraging all voters to take some time on NVRD to ensure they are vote ready. Since NVRD’s establishment in 2012, thousands of civic organizations and voter registration offices have held outreach events to directly serve Americans during this civic holiday.
BVRE will be partnering with the College of Charleston’s Political Science Club to celebrate NVRD in 2023. Our team will be on campus at the Cougar Mall from 10 am until 2 pm to provide free voter services and giveaways. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to register to vote and update their registration information, as well as learn about our award-winning Adopt a Polling Location program and how to get involved in the democratic process. This event will provide a strong platform to educate and empower the newest generation of voters, many of whom will be participating in their first elections in 2024.
“Young citizens are the future of democracy, and they deserve the tools they need to exercise their sacred right to vote. Events like this help strengthen civic education while ensuring those who are eligible to participate in our elections can make their voices heard,” stated BVRE Executive Director Isaac Cramer. “By inspiring young voters, we can protect our democracy and our freedom for generations to come.”
In 2022, BVRE celebrated NVRD by partnering with Frothy Beard Brewing Company in West Ashley, where our team conducted voter registrations and poll worker signups. The brewery also rereleased the “I Voted” Kölsch beer on a limited run.
