St. Stephen Library Co-Hosting Affordable Connectivity Awareness Event
Berkeley County Library System (BCLS), in collaboration with Lowcountry Digital Equity Coalition (LDEC), are co-hosting an Affordable Connectivity Awareness Event! on Wednesday, October 4th, 2023. Customers may attend between the hours of 4 pm to 6 pm.
The LDEC is part of the tri-county’s celebration of National Digital Inclusion Week 2023 (DIW23). DIW is an annual week that promotes equality in access to technology through the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) under the umbrella of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
The ACP provides a discount up to $30 per month of broadband service for eligible households. In South Carolina, 41 percent of eligible households have enrolled in ACP. In the St. Stephen area, only 25 percent of eligible households have enrolled.
“The LDEC’s goal in collaborating with the St. Stephen Library is to ensure all eligible households in St. Stephen are aware of the ACP benefit and have assistance in applying,” said Stacey Lindbergh, LDEC Co-Manager. “I look forward to meeting the St. Stephen community members asking for their help in spreading the word to their neighbors about this opportunity to obtain internet services for their families.”
