A Day at the Beach Delights Residents of Shem Creek Health Center
Press Release
There’s nothing quite like feeling the sand between your toes, the sun on your shoulders, or listening to the sound of waves gently lapping at the shore.
Residents of Shem Creek Health Center were able to experience those sights, sounds and feelings again when they recently enjoyed a special outing to Isle of Palms beach. Shem Creek Health Center provides assisted living, memory care, rehabilitation and skilled nursing care. It is part of South Bay at Mount Pleasant, a luxury rental independent senior living community.
For many of the assisted living and memory care residents of Shem Creek Health Center, it was the first time in years that they’d been able to go to the beach.
The excursion was meticulously planned to ensure the safety and comfort of the residents. A team of caregivers accompanied them, equipped with wheelchairs, canes, and any necessary medical supplies.
The day at the beach was not just about relaxation. It was filled with activities that brought residents closer to nature. Some dipped their toes in the water, while others built sandcastles or collected seashells as souvenirs of their memorable day.
The outing also enabled residents to relive previous experiences of going to the beach, remembering the fun they had with family and friends, and creating new memories and experiences to cherish.
“Today is a testament to what we can achieve when we come together,” says Anntawn Green, Life Enrichment Director at Shem Creek Health Center. “It’s about enriching the lives of our residents, bringing smiles to their faces, and creating memories that will last a lifetime. It fills my soul with happiness to see the residents doing the things they enjoy the most.”
