Join Meyer Vogl Gallery for their next “Culture Cake” event, a series of arts and cultural programming at their Daniel Island location. The event will take place on Sunday, October 22nd, from 3 pm to 5 pm, at 250 River Landing Drive.

This event is free and family friendly. Your RSVP is requested to info@meyervogl.com.

“The Bridge Continues” on October 22nd is the follow-up to their 2022 Culture Cake event, “The Bridge: Black Makers in Charleston.” The idea for the original event grew from the desire to bridge the gap between Black artisans and the Charleston community. Shaniequa Washington, Owner and Designer of Zuriel Kingdom Collections, an Ankara fashion and jewelry brand, has again curated a group of artisans for this year’s event, with a focus on children as our future. The intention is to showcase Black artisans and cultivate a space for children to create and thrive.

Makers and partners who will be joining us for this event include:

  • Zuriel Kingdom Collections, a fashion and accessories brand
  • Gullah Sweetgrass, with Palmetto roses
  • Gullah Dolls, with a doll making craft
  • Motherland Essentials, a bath and body brand
  • Yo Art!
  • Book Success
  • Copper Cohens, with a bracelet making activity
  • Charcuterie Happy Board, with delicious bites
  • Andrea Serrano, content creator and local producer
  • Tidestar Bartending, with drinks for kids and adults
  • Morowa Mosai, with live painting
  • The ZR Experience, providing the music and dance party for kids
  • Ment Nelson, a celebrated South Carolina artist

Children will be invited to participate in such activities as Gullah doll making, bracelet making, sidewalk chalk, dancing and more. Bites and drinks will be served.

Culture Cake is an ongoing series of programs related to art and culture at Meyer Vogl Gallery on Daniel Island. The series is aimed at connecting our audience with local culture and inspiring discussions on a variety of topics, including art, music, history, fashion, food and wine.

Meyer Vogl Gallery has had an established location in downtown Charleston (on the corner of Queen and Meeting) for over 7 years now. The gallery itself originated during the organization of “Artists for Emanuel,” a 90-person art exhibit that raised funds for Coastal Community Foundation’s Lowcountry Unity Fund, formed after the tragedy at Mother Emanuel AME Church. Since then, it has remained our mission to stay committed to our community in various ways. With our new second location on Daniel Island, we have a space that allows us to bring more cultural events and discussions to the area. Our Culture Cake series aims to do just this.
