Dorchester School District Two Approves 2024-2025 School Year Calendar

The Dorchester School District Two Board of Trustees met October 23, 2023, and approved the modified balanced school year calendar for 2024-2025 after a thorough public engagement process.

Leading up to the decision, DDTwo collected feedback from all stakeholder groups, including students, parents, teachers, staff, administrators, and community members. The Calendar Committee developed most of the calendar, and feedback from Superintendent Dr. Shane Robbins’ student and teacher liaison groups provided adjustments.

DDTwo used the ThoughtExchange survey platform to solicit feedback on the three options: Traditional, Modified Balanced I, and Modified Balanced II. Using ThoughtExchange’s AI technology, DDTwo collected and analyzed the extensive input:

• 8,000 participants
• 6,500 thoughts
• 120,000 ratings

Highlights of the approved 2024-2025 Modified Balanced II calendar include: 

• August 8, 2024: First Day of School for Students
• October 14-16, 2024: Fall Break
• November 25-29, 2024: Thanksgiving Break
• May 30, 2025: Last Day of School

“In years past we have not had a recommendation to the board until February,” said Superintendent Dr. Shane Robbins. “In an effort to support families as they make plans, we felt compelled to move that schedule up this year.”
