Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg and Citadel representatives, including Provost Dr. Sally Selden, Director of Health Sciences Dr. Sarah A. Imam, Assistant Professor Dr. Kimbo Yee, Citadel Foundation representative Ryan Kasyan and Summer Medical Camp students, on Wednesday will announce the Citadel’s 2024 Summer Medical Camp in Kenya.

The annual camp, approaching its third year, is the largest free general medicine provider in Nairobi, Kenya and the only medical camp to serve the Koyole community.

Each year, the camp brings together more than 100 Nairobian medical professionals and operations staff, and Citadel students pursuing health careers in medicine, dentistry, physical therapy, physician assistance, nursing and emergency medicine. Since their inaugural camp in 2022, the team has treated nearly 11,000 patients and prescribed more than 100,000 needed medications.

During the press conference, Mayor Tecklenburg will issue a proclamation recognizing the Camp’s efforts and participating students will share their experiences.
