The following is an unedited press release

Lowcountry Social Justice Activists will gather by the entrance to Staybridge Suites at 251 Sessions Way, Mt Pleasant on Tuesday, November 7th from 5:45 to 6:45 pm to protest the continuing attempt by Moms for Liberty to appropriate our public schools as a tools for a right wing, Christian nationalist agenda which promotes racism, homophobia, and antiscientific education and denies real Christian values.

This demonstration will take place outside the hotel where Moms for Liberty will be holding a social hour and meeting at which it is believed they will be celebrating their successful campaign to drive off the Charleston County school superintendent after less than 100 days on the job. The allegations made against the superintendent were determined to be groundless in an independent, school board approved investigation. The contract resolution came at a wasted cost to Charleston County Taxpayers of over 400 thousand dollars, including legal fees and the cost of the search for the superintendent. The Moms for Liberty organization is also expected to be hoping to celebrate victories by candidates supporting their fascist agenda in local Town and City elections that election day.

The previous Moms for Liberty meeting held at this location was secret and closed to the public. A mother who joined the organization online (and who worked as a librarian) was expelled from the meeting after a check of her social media postings. Prior to being ejected, she was asked if she supported librarians.

Participants in the demonstration are asked to wear a reflective vest or light colored clothing and to carry a flashlight or electric lantern. Demonstrators will gather off the road in the public right of way on the South side of the hotel entrance. The Town of Mt. Pleasant Police department (still under secular public control at this time) has been informed of the demonstration and a police presence is anticipated. A legal and peaceful protest is planned.
