Once your Thanksgiving festivities are all wrapped up, why not relax with a movie? And what better movie to watch than the 1983 made-for-TV movie Special Bulletin, which depicts a terrorist group threatening to detonate a homemade atomic bomb in the Charleston Harbor.

That’s right, our lovely city is under attack by some nefarious characters! What will happen??

Here’s Wikipedia’s description of the movie’s plot:

…a terrorist group brings a homemade atomic bomb aboard a tugboat in the harbor of Charleston, South Carolina in order to blackmail the U.S. Government into disabling its nuclear weapons, and the incident is caught live on television.

At the time of its original broadcast, the film caused a bit of a scare amongst some Charlestonians. The movie was made to resemble an actual live newscast, which led some residents to believe what they were watching was real (á la The War of the Worlds in 1938).
