“Alive and Well” Premiere Raises Money for Huntington’s Research

Published

aliveandwellAshleigh Pash, an on-air personality at WEZL and the “Web Goddess” for all local Clear Channel radio stations, is raising money for Huntington’s disease research by hosting a movie premiere on January 29th at the Cinebarre in Mount Pleasant.

Huntington’s is a disease that “causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain.” This degeneration usually leads to movement disorders and/or cognitive and psychiatric issues. As Pash said, it’s essentially “the onset of BOTH Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s over time, at the SAME time.”

Pash became passionate about the cause after meeting Trey Gray, a drummer who has the disease, at WEZL’s most recent “Evening with the Stars” charity concert at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. Gray, who has worked with musicians like Brooks and Dunn, Faith Hill, Jewel, and Ronnie Dunn, told Pash that he was featured in Alive and Well, a documentary about Huntington’s.

Pash found the film to be so powerful and emotional, she knew she had to show it to the Charleston community. Pash also recruited Dr. Gonzalo Revuelta from MUSC Movement Disorders Program to attend the screening and answer questions afterwards. To attend the movie premiere, all you have to do is click the link below and purchase a ticket ($11). All proceeds go straight to Huntington’s research.

If you can’t make the event but would still like to help, just share this event through social media and/or buy a ticket to serve as a donation.

You can purchase your tickets here. The movie will start at 7:30 pm.
