“National Geographic” on Charleston’s Lucky Hoppin’ John
Charlestonians are used to seeing local restaurants in the pages (or on the websites) of Condé Nast Traveler, Eater, Travel + Leisure, or Bon Appétit, but their latest magazine appearance may be a bit surprising – three area restaurants were included in January’s National Geographic.
The publication included 82 Queen, Jestine’s Kitchen, and Poogan’s Porch in an article about “what and where to eat to ensure good fortune all year long.”
National Geographic chose the locations as the best places to get the Holy City’s lucky dish, Hoppin’ John. Why is Hoppin’ John so lucky? The reason is actually quite interesting, and you can read all about it here.
