Book’n It! 5k Fun Run & Walk Set for 3/29
The First Annual “Book’n It! 5K Fun Run & Walk” will be held on Saturday, March 29th at 9 am in Mount Pleasant’s Palmetto Islands County Park.
The event will raise money and awareness in support of literacy in South Carolina and the “Readers 2 Leaders” campaign.
Registration for the race is $16 for adults and $6 for kids under the age of 10. Registration will be available on the day of the event for $20 and $10. Although not required, all participants are encouraged to bring a book to donate (preferably books for the Kindergarten to 3rd Grade reading level).
To keep the cost of the race down, there will be no free t-shirt with registration, but they will be available for a $10 (adult) or $8 (youth) purchase.
According to an event organizer, 100% of the race’s proceeds will go towards training teachers in “fifteen Title I schools across the state where literacy is a major problem.”
