Mellow Mushroom Utilizing Avondale Community Garden

Since late April, the community has had access to 40 plots at the park and the staff from Mellow Mushroom wasted no time in planting cherry tomatoes, jalapenos, sweet basil, cilantro, oregano, lavender, and Italian parsley. The restaurant’s managment believes they can source almost all of their herbs for their kitchen and cocktails from the new community garden.

“We are hoping to experiment with growing seasonal vegetables and herbs outside of our normal menu offerings,” Claire Smith, the restaurant’s general manager, said via a press release.

It’s too soon to know if the restaurant’s efforts will prove fruitful, so check back for updates.
