Local Organizations Hope to Make Charleston a World Heritage Site
The Charleston World Heritage Coalition (CWHC) is partnering with The Charleston Visitors Bureau (CVB) to help further their mission to make the Holy City a UNESCO World Heritage site.
That designation is one of the greatest honors a city or cultural site can achieve. The World Heritage List is made up of over a 1,000 places that The World Heritage Committee has declared to be of “Outstanding Universal Value to Humanity.” The list of U.S. sites that have made it onto the World Heritage List can be seen here.
CWHC recenlty launched an official website to aid their efforts. Web visitors can sign the group’s petition, join the coalition, and donate to the non-profit organization.
In conjunction with the website, CWHC is encouraged Charlestonians and Holy City admirers to share why they love the Charleston on social media using the hashtag #OurCharleston.
