RiverDogs GM Agrees to Prostate Exam During Saturday’s Game

The Charleston RiverDogs already have a unique reputation in regards to their promotions and in-game entertainment, but this one may take the cake. Dave Echols, the team’s Executive President and General Manager, has agreed to the “Two-Knuckle Challenge” (aka an in-game prostate exam) during tomorrow night’s game. Odd? Well…yes, very…but it’s for a good cause!

Earlier this month, the Vice President and General Manager of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Andy Milovich, had a prostate exam done during the 7th-inning stretch while he sang “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.” Milovich took part in the promotion to support Fallon Emery, a nine-year-old girl from Carolina Forest (SC) who has brain cancer and is receiving treatments at MUSC in Charleston. To continue showing Fallon support, Milovich asked the Charleston RiverDogs to help out.

Echols agreed to participate in the “Two-Knuckle Challenge” if fans can get the “Fierce Fallon” Facebook page up to 13,000 likes by the first pitch on Saturday night (6:05pm). Following Milovich’s lead, Echols will get the exam during the 7th-inning stretch while he sings “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.”

Ed Randall’s Bat for the Cure, an organization that raises awareness for prostate cancer, will also be tomorrow’s night game. Plus, there will be a silent auction consisting of team-signed memorabilia to raise money for the fight against prostate cancer.

The “Two-Knuckle Challenge” is part of the Play It Forward initiative, which “encourages others to help create a positive movement through grass roots activities and sports.”
