communitiesinschoolsCommunities In Schools (CIS), a dropout prevention organization, is partnering with Charleston Krav Maga & MMA and Mt. Pleasant Fleet Feet Sports for a self-defense training on Thursday, October 2nd. The class will be co-hosted by WWE Diva Alicia Fox.

The class will be led by Matt Robinson, who is the owner of Charleston Krav Maga. He is the first worldwide certified Krav Maga instructor in the state.

The class is $15 per person and will benefit the “Support The Girls” initiative. The program was formed by Fleet Feet owners Amy and Chris Minkel after they learned that many female students who struggle with a high body mass index avoid exercise because they don’t own a proper sports bra and are too embarrassed to perform physical activity in front of classmates. In response, Fleet Feet has teamed up with Charleston County Schools’ Wellness Committee, the MUSC Lean Team, and Moving Comfort to provide free high-quality, high-support sports bras for female ROTC students in need.

The class will start at 6 pm at the Danny Jones Recreation Center in North Charleston. or more information, click here. To learn more about Communities In Schools, click here.
