Charleston Beer Week’s Thursday Schedule

4728429.webTime is flying – we’re already on the backend of Charleston Beer Week! Thursday is Day 5 of the seven-day celebration.

There are once again six events to choose from, but this time most will not require a ticket.

This was easily the hardest day for me to pick a favorite event, because I would have a blast doing any of them. Lately, I’ve been diggin barrel-aged brews, so after some internal debate I chose Barrel-Aged Bonanza at Close For Business. With more than 10 options to choose from, I would be in barrel-aged heaven.

As you already know, I’m a sucker for all things Charleston, so I also recommend the Local Beer Blowout at Kudu Coffee & Craft Beer.

Here’s a look at Wednesday’s full schedule:

  • 5 pm  Barrel-Aged Bonanza – Closed for Business
    • C4B will have a dozen seriously rare, barrel-aged beers on tap
    • Here’s the list of beers (and the vessels they were aged in):
      • 2013 BFM Abbaye de Saint Bon-Chien(Merlot, Pinot Noir, & Shiraz)
      • Allagash Golden Brett (oak foudre)
      • Allagash Neddles (New England Distilling Rum barrels)
      • Anderson Valley Pinchy Jeek (Wild Turkey barrels)
      • Freigeist Biere de Vie (oak barrels)
      • Liefmans Goudenband
      • Oskar Blues Ten Fidy (Bulleit Bourbon barrels)

  • 5 pm – Flights & Bites w/ Great Divide – Craftsmen Kitchen & Tap House
    • Low-cost flight of beers from Great Divide Brewing (Denver) paired with a delicious, tailor-made bite from their kitchen
  • 6 pm – Local Beer Blowout – Kudu Coffee & Craft Beer
    • Join the Kudu gang as they celebrate ALL things local beer
    • FOUR local casks, plus multiple drafts from EIGHT of our local breweries:
      • COAST Brewing – All Chinook Pale Ale, cask of September Saison
      • Fat Pig Brewing – TBD
      • Freehouse Brewery – TBD
      • Frothy Beard Brewing – Great White Wit and Out at Third Tripel
      • Holy City Brewing Cask of Pluff Mud Porter conditioned with Tanzania Tweega AA Coffee (roasted by Kudu!) & blueberries, Muy Amigo w/ jalapeno, cilantro & pineapple
      • Palmetto Brewing – Casl of “The 5 Hole” stout conditioned with ghost peppers & cinnamon
      • Tradesman Brewing – TBD
      • Westbrook Brewing – Siberian Black Magic Panther aged in Apple Brandy barrels, Mexican Cake
    • Hot Links Homemade Sausage (in the courtyard) and bluegrass band The Steady Hand String Band will be on site
  • 6 pm – Rafa Distributing Beer Dinner – Two Boroughs Larder
    • Rafa Distributing joins forces with Two Boroughs Larder

    • Don Richardson of Quest Brewing (Greenville, SC) is holding court for this class at Total Wine

      • Quest Cabernet Barrel-Aged Belgian Pale Ale w/ fresh cherries
      • Quest Cantelope Witbier
      • Quest Cruzan Rum Barrel-Aged Imperial Smoking Mirror Porter
      • Quest Double IPA w/orange zest
      • Quest Pacific Jade Single Hop IPA
      • Quest Pumpkin Saison
      • Quest Saluda Wet Hop Pale Ale (using SC yeast & NC hops and malts)

  • 7 pm – Brooklyn Bier Is Bacon Me Crazy! – Bay Street Biergarten
    • “Show some love for New York and the FDNY with NY-brewed beer during a very special tap takeover. Stop by for expert pairings of select Brooklyn beers, including the newest Brewmaster’s Reserve,Weizenhammer, with everyone’s favorite protein, bacon.”
