Palmetto Brewing Raised $40k for Operation Homefront

Published

on

The Palmetto Brewing Company recently announced that it raised $40,000 in three months for Operation Homefronta nonprofit organization that provides emergency assistance to military heroes and their families.

Hops for Heroes, a nonprofit craft brewing association, chose Palmetto Brewing as a participant in a collaborative brewing project. Using donated hops and grains, the brewery made 100 barrels of their Homefront IPA beer. Sales launched a week prior to Memorial Day and the supply was sold out by mid-September.

Alana Youngblood-Stroker, Operation Homefront’s South Carolina Community Liaison, will accept the donation at the brewery on October 24th at 6 pm. The presentation will be a part of the Loading Dock Series, which will include live musical performances, $5 pints, complimentary brewery tours, and the Ted’s Butcherblock food truck.

The event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 5:30 pm. Visit the Facebook event page for more information.

Palmetto Brewing Company is located at  289 Huger Street.

***Editor’s Note: A previous version of this post erroneously said Palmetto’s Hootie’s Homegrown Ale was the source of the donated funds, not the Homefront IPA. HCS regrets the error.
