5Church Expands to Charleston; Will Open In Mad River’s Old Location
Charlotte-based MAP Management has announced that their 5Church Restaurant brand is expanding to Charleston. The business will open in the former home of Mad River, which closed earlier this month.
The group recently secured the lease at 32-B North Market Street and intends to open the new restaurant by early summer 2015.
5Church, a “New American” restaurant, opened in Charlotte in May of 2012. It features a seasonal menu that includes fresh, local ingredients. The Charlotte location also has a bar menu that features craft and bottled beer, cocktails, and 130 wines selected by its level two sommelier. During its two years in business, it has already earned a few notable accolades:
- A “Top 100 Dining Hot Spot in America 2014” by Open Table
- Executive Chef (and partner) Jamie Lynch was voted “Best Chef” in 2013 and 2014 by Charlotte Magazine
