5Church: What You Need To Know
It’s been nearly a year since Mad River, a Market Street stalwart, unexpectedly and unceremoniously closed its doors. A couple weeks later it was announced that 5Church, a Charlotte-based brand, would take over the newly vacant location. After nearly a full year of prep work, the restaurant released a statement on Tuesday saying it plans to open this fall.
The press release included a few other tidbits about 5Church. Here’s what you need to know:
Fittingly, the restaurant is opening in an historic church: The old Church of the Redeemer and Harriet Pickney Home For Seamen
It will serve New-American cuisine, craft cocktails, and other beverages
It will be open for dinner, lunch, and brunch
The restaurant’s food, service, and design will mimic its sister property in Charlotte
Décor includes stained glass windows, a white concrete bar, black leather banquettes, chandeliers, and large-scale pop-art
One of the most eye-catching parts of the interior is likely to be the hand-painted written verbiage of Sun Tzu’s “The Art of War” on the church’s ceiling
5Church will seat 200 guests with an outdoor patio and bar area
They will have a private dining room available for events
Holy City Sinner will keep you posted on the official first day of business.
