The Charleston Friends of the Library are participating in National Library Week by hosting Pop Up $1 Book Sales and a “Books for Beer” fundraising event.
The Pop-Up Book Sales are a smaller, mobile version of the the group’s annual regional sales. Purchases at these events go towards the Charleston County Public Library system. The first round of pop up sales will take place on the following dates:
- Wednesday, April 6
- 10 am – 1 pm at the Dorchester Road Library
- 2 pm – 5 pm at the Mt. Pleasant Regional Library
- Friday, April 8
- 10 am – 1 pm at the James Island Library
- 2 pm – 5 pm at the McClellanville Library
In addition to these sales, the Charleston Friends of the Library are teaming up with the Bay Street Biergarten to host the “Books for Beer” fundraiser on Tuesday, April 12th.
From 5:30 pm to 8 pm, you are invited to bring a gently used book to the bar in exchange for one free beer. Any child that brings a children’s book to donate will receive a free root beer.
During the event, the Charleston Friends of the Library will sell books and run a silent auction. Proceeds from the sales go back to the library system.
