Celebrate Colonial Lake’s Re-Opening on June 4th

Colonial LakeOn Saturday, June 4th, The Charleston Parks Conservancy and the City of Charleston will host a grand opening and ribbon cutting celebration for the the newly-renovated Colonial Lake. The event will run from 10:30 am to 2 pm.

Part of the Piccolo Spoleto festival, the Colonial Lake ceremony will include:

  • Ribbon cutting ceremony with Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg (at 11 am)
  •  Music
    • John Cusatis
  • Activities for children
    • Scavenger hunt around the park
    • Sidewalk chalk
    • Hopscotch
  • Food trucks/vendors
    • Smoke BBQ
    • Short Grain
    • Sweet Lulu’s Bakery On Wheels
    • Mac Daddy
    • King of Pops
  • A horticultural tour of the park’s gardens
  • A plein air painting demonstration
  • Charleston Model Yacht Club racing model sailboats on the lake

Here is the preliminary schedule:

  • 10:40am — Volunteer Group Photo
  • 11:00am — Opening Ceremony and Ribbon Cutting
  • 11:30am — Colonial Lake History with Nic Butler, CCPL
  • 11:30am — Live music featuring John Cusatis
  • 11:45am — Colonial Lake Revitalization Design & Engineering
  • 12:00pm — Conservancy Horticultural Tours
  • 12:00pm — Boat races with Charleston Model Yacht Club
  • 12:30pm — Colonial Lake History with Nic Butler, CCPL
  • 12:40pm — Colonial Lake Revitalization Design & Engineering
  • 1:30pm — Colonial Lake History with Nic Butler, CCPL
  • 1:40pm — Colonial Lake Revitalization Design & Engineering
  • 2:00pm — Celebration wraps up
