RiverDogs “Knock ‘Em Out of the Park” on Peanut-Free Night
The Charleston RiverDogs and Charleston Allergy and Asthma are swinging for the fences on August 9th to “knock ‘em out of the park” as they hold a Peanut-Free Night.
For one night only, no peanuts will be on sale at the park with special sections for those with peanuts allergies. The designated areas will be completely peanut-free with a thorough cleansing of the sections prior to the game.
“This night will be a great chance to promote awareness of an important issue, and allows our fans and their families with peanut allergies to relax and enjoy a night out at The Joe,” RiverDogs President and General Manager Dave Echols said in a statement.
In the United States, approximately three million people report allergies to peanuts and tree nuts. Studies show the number of children living with peanut allergy appears to have tripled between 1997 and 2008.
Lower reserved tickets to the peanut-free zone are $10 each, but for $17, fans will also get a meal voucher.
Don’t worry, Tony the Peanut Man will still be in attendance, but he’ll be selling ice cream and singing new jingles to promote peanut allergy awareness.
Tickets can be purchased by contacting the box office at (843) 577-DOGS (3647) or online at www.riverdogs.com.
