Wich Cream Launches Tribute Series to Benefit Charleston Farmers

Published

on

Charleston’s Wich Cream is creating a new series of flavors that will each pay tribute to a different local farmer. The ice cream sandwich company will donate a dollar from every tribute wich sold – both mini and regular sizes – back to the farmer.

First up is “Pure Celeste,” which is made with Celeste Alber’s Green Grocer milk. The wich utilizes Alber’s favorite flavor (vanilla bean) with the addition of her favorite flower (rose) and favorite spice (cinnamon). The wafer is made with Carolina Gourdseed corn, grown by Alber and ground into cornmeal by Anson Mills. This is an heirloom variety that made southern cornbread famous prior to the Civil War.

The tribute series creams are available at Charleston area farmer’s markets (downtown Charleston, West Ashley, Sunday Brunch, Johns Island, and Mt. Pleasant).
