Lowcountry Love for the Virgin Islands Donation Party to be held Sunday at PoHo
On Sunday, October 8th from 4 pm to 10 pm, local nonprofit LowcountryLOVEforVI will be hosting a donation party at the Pourhouse to wrap up their two-week, citywide supply drive that raised money and collected supplies for people in the Virgin Islands affected by hurricanes Irma and Maria.
Guests who attend the family-friendly, outdoor event will be able to enjoy a Caribbean-inspired menu, specialty cocktails including a Malibu Rum Punch, craft beer provided by Hi-Wire Brewery, and live entertainment by local bands. There will also be a silent auction and raffle prizes. Attendees can enjoy the Caribbean-inspired meal with a requested donation of $20 to support the efforts of LowcountryLOVEforVI.
Plus, with each case of water, first-aid kit, or tarp (new or used) donated, the donor will receive a ticket for a free drink.
So far collections of dry goods (from more than 50 drop-off points throughout the Charleston area) are being sorted and boxed at locally-based software company BoomTown, the main corporate sponsor of this effort. Supplies have been collected over the last three weeks and the final drive on Sunday will wrap up this local effort. Goods are scheduled to be boxed and loaded onto a shipping container next week and shipped to the islands where the charity’s island-based partner, 501(c)(3) non-profit St. Croix Foundation, will take over for distribution to St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix.
