Healthy Lifestyle Network to Host Community Health Day

Healthy Lifestyle Network, Inc. announced the 17^th Annual Community Health Day Conference & Expo will be held on Saturday, November 4th at the International Longshoreman’s Association from 8:45 am to 1:15 pm.

Dr. Souzan Abdel Samie, an internationally-trained specialist in family medicine, is the keynote presenter on the Impact of Diabetes and High Blood Pressure on the Heart. Other sessions include: Living with Diabetes, Move It or Lose It, and Eating in Colour.

The day will be filled with presentations, blood pressure checks, lunch, Diabetes screening, and several vendors.

According to Lorna Beck, the event organizer, there is a vital need for diabetes education.

SC ranks as the 5^th highest in the nation in the percent of population with diabetes. Diabetes is the 7^th leading cause of death in SC after cancer, heart disease stroke and others. Uncontrolled diabetes can lead to many complications including blindness, kidney failure, heart attacks, strokes and amputations. Given these statistics, The Community Health Day Conference & Expo will provide essential information where it is sorely needed.
