Leftovers: Tidbits from the Food & Bev Community (12/16/17)

I created the “Leftovers” series to ensure I could share as much food and bev news as possible, so here’s the latest:

  1. Sticky Fingers Ribhouse announced that Super Bowl MVP and Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young has signed on as spokesman for the Sticky Fingers brand. Young has been an investor in Sticky Fingers since 2013.
  2. On December 13th, Mex 1 will roll out “Wahine Wednesdays,” a weekly ladies’ happy
hour going down every Wednesday night at both locations. The series will feature drink specials, live music, and prize giveaways. Music starts at 5:30 pm. Anytime throughout the
week, wahine (Hawaiian for “female surfer”) may ask their server or bartender for a “Golden
Ticket” which will give you the opportunity to win cool prizes such as spa certificates, jewelry
handmade by local designers, yoga classes, and lots more on any “Wahine Wednesday.”
  3. 5Church will be offering a special three-course Christmas Eve menu and Christmas Day Buffet. Reservations are encouraged and can be made via phone 843-937-8666 or online at www.5ChurchCharleston.com.
    • Christmas Eve
      • 3-course prix-fixe menu from noon to 9 pm
      • $45 per guest/$20 children under 12. Optional wine pairings $15 per guest
    • Christmas Day
      • Buffet from 3 pm to 9 pm
      • $45 per person/$20 children under 10
  4. Miller’s All Day, the brunch-centric restaurant coming soon to lower King Street, has filled two key positions. Madison Tessener will be the new restaurant’s Executive Chef and DaVee Harned has been named Pastry Chef.
  5. Join Ms. Rose’s on Monday, December 18th, for a Holiday-Themed “Burgers, Beers, Brains” Monday Night Trivia event. Monday Night Specials include $9 Burger and Beer Combos and $4 Craft Drafts. The top three trivia teams win house cash towards their tabs. The event runs from 7 pm to 9 pm. For more information, visit Ms. Rose’s Facebook Page.
  6. Now through January 7th, SOL Southwest Kitchen & Tequila Bar in Mt. Pleasant, Summerville and Downtown Charleston has partnered with Windwood Farm Home & Family Services to raise money through the restaurant’s Kitchen Karma program. This local nonprofit organization provides therapeutic residential services to abused, neglected children in our community. One dollar from every Cranberry Spiced Margarita and Steak Skewer sold will be donated.

  7. Caviar & Bananas is offering a turn-key holiday catering menu for Christmas that includes everything from main dishes to sides to desserts and wine. Orders for Christmas meals must be placed by Dec 20th at 2 pm. For those who may not need to cater the entire meal, almost the entire holiday menu will be available in the restaurant the week leading up to Christmas. There is also a menu for office and corporate catering.
    • In addition, Caviar & Bananas has plenty of gift options available for the holidays. Some items, including the popular gift baskets, can be purchased online.
  8. Hamby Catering will have several catering options available for the upcoming holiday season. View their 2017 Holiday Pick-up Menu to browse their festive food offerings:
